Some short but memorable stories during the TNT/WFP fieldtrip in The Gambia

Before the departure I promised you all that I would keep you posted via this blog about my experiences in The Gambia. Obviously I failed to do so, there are several reasons why I didn’t blog in The Gambia, the internet connection was from time to time quite dodgy, the day program was fairly busy, but the main reason was the intensity of the trip, not that I’m complaining, but rather working on my blog in the evening I choose to talk to my fellow field trippers or the amazing crew of The Roc Height Lodge, like Jerry, Landing, Marco, Lani or Ballad.

The final day in the office before leaving to The Gambia on Monday morning. The last couple of days I received a lot of support from my colleagues, wishing me a good trip, bon voyage, etc. and assuring me that TNT’s support to the WFP is what makes them proud to work for TNT. Maybe unnecessary to say, but, and I think I can speak for all my fellow field trippers, it makes us proud too. Don’t want to sound too corny, but the support you all have giving me, feels truly good.

Countdown The Gambia

After a couple of meetings, and getting to know my fellow fieldtrip-members, the countdown for the departure has started.

Thoughts go back and forward, gratitude for the opportunity, wondering how The Gambia will be, Ideas to share with the WFP, UN AIDS and North Star, leaving my girlfriend for a week and returning on her birthday, how will I react on being confronted with hunger and poverty, can I handle the heat...

TNT SAMEDAY

At TNT Sameday in Amsterdam we started to collect money, change left over from getting coffee is donated for the world food programme in Malawi.

Also some people decided that instead of buying cake's and pies for your birthday the money is donated at WFP.

Is a small and humble donation, but every euro counts is the thought
