We had a good morning here in Bamako. After an intensive meeting with the WFP (PAM) Mali in Bamako, we are now going to make our way to Segou.

Our arrival into the Bamako International Airport was very chaotic with queues to immigration unclear and then I was stopped by the customs person who insisted that I give him one of the perfumes I bought for my friends. I had to insist with a gentle "NO" to him a few times before he let me through.

Then comes the search for our shuttle driver to the hotel. Found the vehicle but couldn't find the driver. Very interesting. Our flight landed at 2015hrs, it was not until almost 2200hrs that we were able to leave the airport.

Hot! Humid! Exhausted! This country reminds me of Singapore in terms of the climate and temperature.

The TNT France team were also looking exhausted. 7 of use in total which includes Antonio, Franck, Aurel, Raphaele, Karen, Ameur and I.

We had a late dinner, chatted and went to bed "early" as our pick-up in the morning will be at 0815hrs.

In the photos, you can see intense discussions between the TNT France teams and the WFP Mali teams in identifying projects and introducing the activities here in Mali. The only obstacle was that I don't speak an ounce of French except "Merci". Well, its a good start and looking forward to at least be able to say 10 - 20 French words at the end of this trip and would be able to work with the WFP West Africa in the future.
